Ward has undergone 363 appearances for Palace with the club since its signing from Portsmouth in 2012.

The 35-year-old ended his time in South London by raising the FA Cup on Saturday.

The first large trophy from Palace follows a final defeat in 2016 that Ward began.

He was also part of the team who was promoted to the Premier League with the club over the play-offs at the end of his first season.

Despite leaving Palace, Ward has no plans to hang up his boots, and said talk sport that he definitely does not retire.

The right -back said on the drive: “The idea is further. I still have the hunger, still had the desire to play and cross this white line. I do not intend to give up soon.”

Although he only played for 12 minutes this season, Ward was one of the replacement pieces in the Wembley Stadium.

He believes that his exit from the club after the historic FA Cup triumph could come at a better time.

Ward added: “As it looks, the baton is said goodbye and I don’t think there is a better way to do this from the weekend celebrations.

“13 years ago in my first year to get to the Palace and to raise the play-off final and obviously raise the FA Cup last year was something special.

“I think it is there at the moment and I don’t think there is a better end.”

Ward will leave the palace as an eight -eight look of appearance of all time behind the former striker Dougie Freedman.

His exit means that he will miss the opportunity to represent the club in Europe next season.

However, the experienced defender is ready for a “new chapter” after leaving the club.

Ward continued: “I am satisfied for me and I am happy and the rest will take care of yourself, but I know that it is a new chapter.”

Palace’s FA Cup victory means that Oliver Glasner’s team will be released in the next term in the Europa League.
