Henderson, who has a year in his deal with the Dutch Giants Ajax, was on the stands after eight years to watch his former club in the upper part of the top council.

After the victory, he wrote on Instagram: “Congratulations @sunderlandafc !!! So happy for the entire club, back in the Premier League.”

Henderson started his career in the Stadium of Light and spent 13 years with the club after going through her academy.

After his first team made his first team at the age of 18, he made 79 appearances for Sunderland.

The fan of The Boyhood Sunderland was sold to Liverpool in 2011 before it was magic for 12 years in Angeld.

During this time he won eight trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League.

The former Sunderland striker and chairman Quinn is now confident that Henderson will return to the black cats this summer.

When he spoke at the weekend sports breakfast, he said: “Well, I had it from the day Jordan was left, and Liverpool paid us the day on the day on which he paid £ 20 million, when he was a large, wide door for him if he wanted to come back.

“Obviously it is not my business to do something, just to comment on it. But wouldn’t it be anything else?

“I think he recognized the game, his hard work and his team game. He is a real kind of driver.

“He went to Liverpool, the first year was really hard and a year later Jordan turned it all around and he had a big influence.

“To see how he lifts these Champions League trophy, I think that everyone in Sunderland was made very proud.”

Henderson left Liverpool in July 2023 for the Saudi Pro League team Al Ettifaq before he came to Ajax six months later.
