‘Massive ambition’ – EFL star drops down a division to join fallen giants after rejecting new Wrexham contract


Bolton Wanderers confirmed Sam Dalby as the first signing of the summer after his publication by Wrexham.

Dalby was handed over to the coveted shirt number 10 for Bolton, which was previously worn by Jay-Jay Okocha and Peter Reid.

Dalby started his senior career at Leyton Orient before having spells in Leeds, Watford, Morecambe, Stockport County and Woking.

In his form for Southend in the National League, in which he looted 10 goals in the 2021/22 season, he set Wrexham Shoop to sign it.

Parkinson’s revealed last month: “I recently chatted well with Sam and I am happy about him.

He added: “Obviously we talked to him about extending his contract in January and did not want to call him back.

“I know that there were times when we did not score goals and was discussed, but I didn’t want to call him back because we tried to bring players in my thoughts.

“I thought when I call him back and he didn’t end up in the team, he will be very frustrated, so we wanted to hold him there.

“But now he has brought himself into a strong position with his appearances for Dundee United to receive a contract somewhere.

“I am sure that there will be many options for him out there.”
