James Milner to join exclusive five-man Premier League club with new Brighton deal


James Milner wrote a one -year contract extension with Brighton.

Milner, who had a free transmission in the Amex Stadium in 2023, will remain with the seagulls until the end of the next season until the end of the next season.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler about the decision to extend the stay of the former England internationally and said: “I am very happy that we will have James with us again this season.

“Last season he couldn’t help the team on the field as much as he would like it to be.

The New Deal means that it will now join an exclusive group of players during the upcoming campaign.

Milner is only the fifth Outfield player in the Premier League from the age of 40 or older.

The 39-year-old turns 40 on January 4 and allows him to join Teddy Sheringham, Ryan Giggs, Kevin Phillips and Gordon Strachan to have done this.

He could also end the season as the third oldest outfield player in the history of the Premier League behind Sheringham and Giggs.

Milner will be 40 years and 140 days old on the last day of the season on May 24th.

The three -time winner of the Premier League is also about to become the leading appearance of the division.

He is currently behind Gareth Barry with 638 career top appearances for Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Leeds and Brighton.

In these games, Milner scored 55 goals and scored another 86 templates.

Before the 2025/26 season, the veteran only needs 15 more appearances to achieve Barry’s record of 653 games.

It comes after he was only limited four league excursions in the last term.
