The former United Stopper said at Talksport Drive: “I have known him for a long time.
“He spent four or five years in Ajax. I trained with him and saw him come.
“He has great strengths. He is sporty. He has good reaction savings.
“Good with his feet and everything. I am sure he will get over it.
“Sometimes it’s not easy. Sometimes your performance or the pressure there is.
“But I saw how he played for Ajax, for Inter, Champions League final. I am sure that he will be fine for the next season.

“I think there are more areas in which United should see whether you can have a better player, another player.
“But I don’t think the goalkeeper situation has to be addressed now.”
When asked whether it is unfair to blame Onana, he added: “If you make a mistake or let you fall through your legs or it is a wrong ball you have published from behind, you can blame the goalkeeper.
“He was not consistent this year.
“But with the properties he has, he should be able to play for the next season for Man United.”
Onana has made 101 appearances for the Red Devils since the signing of his former Ajax boss Erik Ten HAG in 2023.
