Manchester United will hope that the story will not be repeated after the club has signed a Wolves star to combat the relegation form.
Ruben Amorim supervised the worst league of the Red Devils since 1973-1974 -the season in which they had relegated from the top flight.

The Old Trafford outfit lost 18 Premier League games in the season to achieve 42 points with wolves.
Amorim’s first deal to try to correct United’s worst campaign for 51 years was to complete a transfer that has not been carried out since this semester.
United recently introduced Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a move of £ 62.5 million after triggering his free gaberie.
The Brazilian has been the first senior player in over five decades to switch from Molineux to Old Trafford.
Darren Ferguson and Denis Irwin have both moved in the opposite direction, but the red devils rarely dare out the upper talent of the wolves.
Jim McCalliog was the last one who was recruited for the first team on the day of the Black Country on the transfer deadline day in March 1974.
The boss, who was then trained by Tommy butery, did to defeat Aston Villa for an £ 60,000 deal for the Scots in order to ward off the descent.
“Tommy buterty gave me my first chance as a professional at Chelsea,” said McCalliog, as reported on the club’s website.
“I will not regret it, even if Manchester United goes down, you are a great club.”
These words actually passed when McCalliog scored four goals in a spell with three games, United could not help avoid the drop.

The midfielder made 20 appearances of the division two before being sold to Southampton to follow the English giants.
A year later, it was McCalliog’s passport who set up Bobby Stokes to score the only goal at the Fa Cup victory of Saints in 1976 against Nacherty’s United.
The 10-cap scotland international is now retired and is involved in another business with a clean leaf as the owner of a Bed & Breakfast.
The now 78-year-old McCalliog, together with his wife Debbie, even introduced his Ayshire B&B in a bed in a bed in the long-standing show of Channel 4, four.
He said, “After I was withdrawn from the game in 1991, I went to the pub and restaurant trade.
“I have not intentionally planned to return to Scotland, but we love where we are and it is a pleasure that people stay.”

McCalliog, who brought in a 3-2 victory over England in 1967 in a 3-2 win over England, won again for his Bed & Breakfast from Langside.
However, it was his appearance on the free-air reality TV show that made him better known for tartan bed linen over the Tartan Army.
His wife Debbie added: “We were invited to a Scotland against England and when we arrived, Sir Rod Stewart was in the room.
“Jim went over to speak to him, and Sir Rod said: ‘You are the couple who has B&B.”

The couple has been running the longside since 2006, and prices start at around 120 GBP per night, including breakfast.
McCalliog also opted for a dog topic with a huge dog statue outside the front door, in addition to a bitch printed.
Amorim hopes that Cunha’s arrival will signal the dogs of the war …
