Former Championship boss working at airport after sacking

In February 2025, Luke Williams was released as Swansea City Manager after seven losses in nine championship games.

Just a few months later, the former head of Swindon and Notts County took on a surprising new role – at Bristol Airport.

A photo of Williams in his airport uniform appeared on social media last Saturday and several branches, including The athletehave confirmed that he has been working there in the past two weeks. His task includes the support of disabled and limited mobility passengers in the terminal.

Although he does not give a financial necessity to work while waiting for another opportunity for football, sources near Williams said that he preferred to stay busy and do something meaningful instead of staying at home.

This approach reflects what he has told The guardian where he emphasized the value of the hard work in 2024. After leaving school without qualifications, he supported his early coaching career through jobs such as loading trucks and driving minibuses.

“The knowledge in my late teenagers is that life will be a monumental struggle for me, that life would be very hard and that the world becomes very hostile for someone without qualifications, without contacts,”, “explained Williams. “This wish to feed me and take care of me came up.

“It became clear to me that I was able to tolerate almost everything, provided I would have a roof over my head and something. So the motivation started. I don’t think I really kept me from it.”

Whether on the touch line or out of off, Williams’ commitment shows that hard work and humility can open doors – even if the path takes unexpected twists.
