“Because Jordan when he went for the first time [to Liverpool]I think Kenny [Dalglish] Bought him when he went to Anfield for the first time, people were not sure, and then he proved that they were wrong.

“But he is now 35 years old, I think forest … no. Not for me. He had a brilliant career, not now.”

It was the same opinion of Agbonlahor who would like to see the Champions League winner again on Wearside in 2019.

Before adding: “I am not sure whether the Premier League now fits him.

Brazil then threw in, as he noticed: “That would be ideal for him, Sunderland.

“Play [for] Sunderland in the Premier League and enjoy it.

“I’m not saying that it is his last season because he loves his football, but he will probably go to coaching, right?

“I think Sunderland is the perfect step for him.”

In the meantime, the ex-Arsenal striker and the former Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn have asked the club to bring Henderson back.

He told Talksport last month: “Well, I had a large wide door on the day on which Jordan was left and Liverpool was open to us on the day he paid £ 20 million.
