Newcastle United and Adidas have officially presented the new third kit of the club for the 2025/26 season – a striking mix of retro flair and modern style that tribute in the history of the club.
The new design was inspired by the legendary third kit from 1997/98 and offers a bold palette made of burned orange and deep green set in front of a rich marine backdrop – a slim, contemporary turn of a cult classic.
The shirt is designed with a view of collectors and modern fans and will certainly turn the heads on and off the field.
The kit brings back the embroidered adidas trefoil logo for a nostalgic touch and also contains a sewn Newcastle crest and classic adidas EQT-flat collar and cuffs. The look is completed by marine shorts and socks, each with the signatures three stripes and a light orange trefoil for additional flair.
Peter Silverstone, Chief Commercial Officer from Newcastle United, said: “This third kit is a strong mix of past and present – a brave design that reflects both our proud history and the exciting journey.
“It is a real pride to wear the trifoil – a symbol that connects generations of fans
And players, “he added.” Our passionate global fan base will see this and proudly wear it, especially since we return to the UEFA Champions League for the second time in three years. “
While the KIT pays homage to an unforgettable design, the 1997/98 season for Newcastle on the field was anything but wonderful.
Under the then manager Kenny Dalglish, the magpies fought in 13th place in the Premier League, left the Champions League on the group stage and fell in the FA Cup final on Arsenal. Even Alan Shearer, the club’s legendary No. 9, experienced a difficult year and, after a campaign for injuries, scored only seven goals in all competitions.
This time, however, Eddie Howe will hope that history will not be repeated. After Newcastle was prepared for a return to European competition in 2025/26, the club will combine its sharp new look with that of the shirt worthy of the shirt.
