Pedro was thrown directly into the campaign after he joined his new teammate in the USA in the early morning hours of Saturday morning before the club world champion’s quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old, who scored 30 goals for the seagulls in 70 games, began his career in English football with Watford after he had reached fluminense in 2020 at the age of 18.

And there the former Watford Deeney striker got the youngsters first -hand.

Deeney admits that Pedro, since they crossed the paths in the Vicarage Road, continued to show the properties that impressed him when he first encountered Brazilian training.

“Joao brings an intensity – he is obviously an extraordinary football player,” Deeney told Talksport.

“The social media clips that Chelsea has published in training shows that he is already throwing his weight around.

“He’s everything or nothing,” he added. “I think his misunderstanding is that he is a troublemaker. He is not that at all.

“He is passionate, energetic and wants to win. He wants to play every game every minute.

“But I think in Chelsea you will now see the real Joao Pedro who enjoys a competition and believes that he should start for Brazil.”

Deeney continued: “I have seen this player since he was 18 and the mentality has not changed a bit.

“It was always, ‘I want to be the best and I want to be the new R9.

“It is for everyone who can be decided. In the short term, it’s about how he comes there. He is only 23 years old.

“I think the business that Chelsea did this summer has been exceptional.”

Pedro has the unique opportunity to quickly cough into the history of Chelsea by leading the blues to the Club World Cup -Ruhm.

A victory over Palmeiras would see Chelsea in the semi -finals, where they were either faced as Hilal or Pedros of earlier side flowerense.

The success in the competition, along with a good run in the Premier League and the Champions League next season, could offer the striker the push that he contributes to his three brazil caps and cemented himself as a striker of the first election in his country.

However, Deeney has warned Chelsea that Pedro should continue to bloom at the highest level, his time in West -London could be short -term.

“When Chelsea competes in the Champions League and the Premier League, he will be part of this vehicle,” said the former striker.

“If you win the World Cup, you will argue that it also has a little bit.

“If you look at the Brazilian national team, it is not as strong as the teams that we have seen over the years. I think he will see it and say that I can do that [become first-choice striker].

“I am sure that the eight -year contract is more for Chelsea, which spreads it over PSR, but if he cuts off well there for two years, Real Madrid and Barcelona will knock and Chelsea is a role model for the purchase of young and potentially sold for much more than you have paid.”
