Eintracht Frankfurt striker rejected Bayern Munich to join Premier League side after manager fall-out


Tony Yeboah left Eintracht Frankfurt after a “problem” with the manager of the club.

The former striker completed a move to Leeds from the German side in January 1995.

Yeboah initially arrived in Elland Road before the move was made permanently at the end of the season.

He scored 24 goals in 47 Premier League appearances for the club.

These strikes included the goal of the season against Wimbledon in September 1995 when Yeboah won a hat trick in a 4-2 win.

Yeboah later revealed that he had rejected Bayern Munich before he signed for the white ones.

In 2016 he recalled: “I was with my consultant Joachim Leukel in Munich.

“Actually everything went well at the beginning, but then they offered 200,000 German grades (80,000 pounds per year), so I signed for Leeds United.”

In the meantime, his decision to leave Frankfurt was partly due to a dispute with manager Jupp Heynckes.

The Ghanaer said GTV Sports+ in 2020: “I didn’t know Leeds, but when the offer came in, I said why not?

“Then I had a problem with the coach in Frankfurt, so I decided to play football, I want my peace.

“In the beginning, the trust of Leeds was not there, so they loaned me for the first six months and had the opportunity for another two years.”

After two years with Leeds, Yeboah returned to Germany in 1997 when he signed for Hamburg.

His move to the Premier League of Frankfurt is now repeated by Hugo Ekikats.

The French striker has agreed personal conditions in a six -year contract with Liverpool.

In the meantime, a deal was hit in the director between the clubs for his arrival in Anfield, which understands talking.
