‘In the pipeline for a year’ – Tottenham Hotspur signed Nottingham Forest midfielder after transfer request

Tottenham Hotspur had to work hard, but finally they landed their destination from Nottingham Forest.

Andy Reid entered the club on January 31, 2005, just a few minutes before the transfer window was closed.

He was also not alone and came along with fellow human beings with tricky trees, Michael Dawson in an 8 million pound -double deal.

The LilyWhites had followed Reid for some time before the blow with the club even referred to the one -year hunting in their announcement.

In the end, the Irish international was only happy to sort the move.

“I’m just happy to do it,” said the 22-year-old.

“It has been talking about it for a long time and now I am thrilled that everything went through. I look forward to playing Premiership football.

“I did not hesitate to sign, Tottenham is such a big club and I like the way the chairman Frank [Arnesen] and Martin [Jol] have transformed things. They bring a lot of young players and I just want to be part of it. “

Reid had equipped himself so much on the move, which even made a transfer request to complete the business.

“I have the feeling that I have no choice but my wish to leave the club formally,” he said last August.

“After an episode of disappointing events in the past six months, I have reluctantly submitted a transfer request.”

Reid added: “I understand that the club has to work as a company, but a player is certainly only worth what someone is paying, and some of the values that have been put on my head are ridiculous.

“You just have to look at the fees that other clubs paid for experienced caps this summer who only played in the Premier League to realize that I had a prize significantly from one step.”

And the train of top football alongside the teammates of the Republic of Ireland, Robbie Keane and Stephen Kelly, was also the key.

“It is also important on the international front. If you play Premiership Football, there is more you have the opportunity to play every game in the international scene.

“My main priority at the moment is to win a place in the Spurs team. I watched the team and was very impressed, it is a young team that develops and I have the feeling that they get better all the time.

“I am excited and look forward to meeting all the boys for training. I haven’t spoken to Robbie yet, but I will do it. I’m good with him and Stephen Kelly.

Reid enjoyed his time with Tottenham, but ultimately only met 27 appearances in one year and scored a goal.

However, this goal was a cracker in a 5: 1 struggle by Aston Villa, who thundered home from outside the box.

Reid then traveled to Charlton in deal worth 3 million GBP before returning in Sunderland, Sheffield United, Blackpool and then in 2011.

Meanwhile, Dawson took the opportunity with both hands – just as he said.

“I had no doubt about the move at all,” he said.

“It was a few years ago when I was with the path [England] U21S and joined the complete squad and had a training session.

“It has calmed down in recent years and now Tottenham has come in and gave me a chance – I want to grab it with both hands.

“There is a big competition for places here and it will bring out a lot. I can’t wait.”

In the end, with his defense with no-nonsense, Dawson became a main support in the Tottenham team and formed a heroic partnership with the Club icon Ledley King.

He spent almost 10 years in the White Hart Lane, won the League Cup in 2008 and was six times in the Champions League campaign 2010/11 and became King’s pension.

Now Tottenham is careful to attack Nottingham Forest for another midfielder.

This time it is Morgan Gibbs-White who attracts your attention, although every deal, similar to Reids, could be boring.

The tricky trees have accused spores of an illegal approach after triggering the 60 million pounds of England International.

When he arrives in North London, he will connect the recent signing of Mohammed Kudus, who signed £ 55 million for the LilyWhites.

The New Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank also landed young Japanese central defenders Kota Takai this summer.

In the meantime, loan offers for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso have also become permanent.
