Al-Nassr followed an informal approach to sign Fernand’s attempt to lure him away before the World Club World Championship.

After this attempt, Saudi chiefs were confident of making an agreement to sign the Portuguese international.

After Fernandes consulted his family and thought about his decision, he decided to stay in Old Trafford.

“There was an opportunity,” said the man United Captain.

“The [Al Hilal] President called me and asked if I wanted to go there. They waited for me.

“I spoke to coach Amorim. He asked me not to go. Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. They didn’t need the money.

“If I wanted to go, they would have made it.”

Due to the stay in United, Fernandes rejected a lucrative contract of over £ 700,000,000 a week to drive to the Middle East.

Al-Hilal was ready to offer up to 100 million pounds, with the Saudi side made several deadlines for a decision.

But after an informal approach by Cristiano Ronaldos al-Nassr, however, he decided to stay in the Premier League and does not plan to change this attitude soon.

What else said?

Fernandes discussed his decision not to leave United in a press conference for Al Hilal in the international duty.

“I spoke to my family to understand if I wanted that for my future,” said the midfielder.

“It was actually my wife who asked me – I never said yes or no. She presented my professional priorities, especially others.

“It would have been a simple step. I had Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo, two people with whom I have a great friendship.

“But I want to stay at the highest level and play in big competitions because I still feel capable.

“I want to continue to be happy, I’m still very passionate about this sport and I am satisfied with my decision.”

Seasonal closure

Fernandes, who celebrate his future for Mann United, is of course a big boost for Ruben Amorim and his side.

He scored two goals in the previous season and achieved a double against West Ham in the Premier League summer series.

There is no doubt that he will once again have a big impact on the Red Devils who have brought two signs with great money.

Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha have joined the squad, and Fernandes will help to survive on the top level.

Benjamin Sesko can also sign under the interests of United and Newcastle, the latter improving their offer.

Amorim’s team begins the new Premier League season on Sunday, August 17th as an host of Arsenal in Old Trafford.
