Wrexham to continue transfer raid with plot to sign ex-Arsenal star

Wrexham plans a surprise offer for the former Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, understands Talksport.

The central defender, who had spent seven seasons in the Emirates, before he was permanently moving to the Aston Villa in 2022, could be ready to join the newly widespread WREXHAM championship team for the 2025/26 campaign.

The 30 -year -old Chambers only exchanged the villa against Cardiff City last summer and spent a season in the championship before he was facing relegation for the first time since 2003.

However, he could soon climb out of the first division and join North Wales Side Wrexham, while enjoying her campaign in second place in English football for the first time in 43 years.

Chambers scored two goals in 41 appearances from Cardiffs Backline last season and was announced as the new captain of the club in early August.

Before his departure in 2022, after a promising youth career in Southampton, he made 122 appearances for the Premier League Giants Arsenal.

He tried to find a regular place in the Gunner’s squad, but which had borrowed time in Middlesbrough and Fulham.

He found his life in the Premier League again hard with Villa and did not impress the Manager Unai Emery.

Chambers spent more time on the bench than on the field during his magic in West Midlands and seemed to leave the club long before his later move to Cardiff in July 2024.

While life in Wales was certainly more fruitful for Chambers, one season in the first division could be less appealing.

He played a crucial role during the offer of Cardiff 2024/25 – both in midfield and in defense – which had his career again after falling out of favor in previous clubs.

Chambers spoke last week before his team’s 0-0 draw with Port Vale and admitted that he “buzzed” the season.

“The style we play and the identity we have,” he said. “It works amazingly with the group and the players we have. I have the feeling that there is a real identity about us and a way for us.

“It was really nice [to be named captain]. When I found it out, it is a nice feeling that the players think so that they are.

“It is a new challenge and a new role for me. I have never had it before. I have the feeling that at a time in my career what is a good time. It’s like a new challenge for me, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Wrexham’s big summer overhaul

It was an incredible journey for Wrexham that adorned the National League in 2022.

Her quick growth was partially attributed to the takeover of Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney in 2021.

Wrexham has transformed its production from a local side into a global phenomenon.

The Hollywood owners of Reynolds and Mcelhenney have led WREXHAM to three consecutive advertising campaigns in the non-league to the championship and contribute to the financing of a big spending squad overhaul this summer

Reynolds and Mcelhenney have achieved a domino effect of celebrity owners in the entire football world, with the NFL ikone Tom Brady becoming a minority owner of Birmingham City.

Their meteoric climb made it possible for you to send you this summer with Kieffer Moore, Conor Coady and Lewis O’Brien with people such as Kieffer Moore, Conor Coady and Lewis O’Brien.

Before they smashed the club’s transfer record, that was to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town worth 10 million GBP from Ipswich – tripled their earlier record business.

Chambers would agree with a backline that consists of Coady, Lewis Brunt and the graduate of the 23-year-old Academy Max Cleworth.

They confronted a difficult start to the 2025/26 campaign and lost 2-1 against the former Premier League team Southampton, who had relegated with seven remaining games from 2024/25.

Wrexham will return to action tomorrow when you have West Brom in Stok Cae Ras Stadium.
