Little-known FIFA rule means Alexander Isak could force through Liverpool move, and Newcastle would be powerless

Alexander Isak could leave Newcastle as a Free Agent next summer thanks to a FIFA control change.

The Swedish striker would have the opportunity to tear his contract for two years in early June 2026.

It comes when he stays in a patient situation with the magpies in relation to his future in St. James’ Park.

Isak is currently not training with the first team and missed the Premier League against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Liverpool was interested in signing the 25-year-old all summer after rejecting £ 110 million at the beginning of this month.

However, Newcastle has repeated that Isak is not for sale after he claimed that the club “promised” in a declaration of bombing shell.

Gabriele Marcotti from ESPN has now announced that an improvement in FIFA’s transmission rules could enable the forward goods by exit.

This is followed by a legal case in which the former midfielder of Real Madrid Lassana Diarra is involved last year.

After a court decision, FIFA Article 17 had to change its regulations for the transfer and status of the players.

The changes have removed the powers of the management committee to hold back a player’s transfer certificate if you have violated your contract to join a new club free of charge.

FIFA had previously been able to block the move until the matter had been solved.

The burden of proof has also shifted to the club when he lost the player to prove that the signature club worked together with it to violate their contract.

Alexander Isak’s bombing

Isak wrote on Instagram: “I am proud to be recognized by my colleagues with a place in the season team of the Pfa Premier League for 2024/25.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank my teammate and everyone at Newcastle United who supported me on the way.

“I’m not at the ceremony tonight. With everything that is going on, it didn’t really feel like being there.

“I was silent for a long time while others spoke. This silence made it possible for people to push their own version of events, even though they know that they do not reflect what really said and agreed behind closed doors.

“The reality is that promises have been made and the club has known my position for a long time. To act as if these problems only occur, it is misleading.

“If promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot be continued. Here things are for me at the moment – and why there are changes in the best interest of everyone, not just for me.”

How can Isak Newcastle leave free of charge?

As a result, Isak could possibly join Free Agent as a Free Agent next summer if Newcastle does not sell it before the end of the current window.

Article 17 can be used within 15 days after the endgame of the season, with the last Premier League game of the Toon Army being planned for this term on May 24, 2026.

This would give ISAK by June 8th to unilaterally violate his contract and sign for a new club on July 1, two years before his deal.

Although Newcastle is entitled to compensation, this number could only be half of the rejected offer of Liverpool, says Marcotti.

This number is determined by the “damage” of the club in relation to the “positive interest” of FIFA.

The process is applied on a case -by -case basis, whereby Marcotti determines that in this case ISAK’s remaining wages, its value for Newcastle and the costs for the exchange would be taken into account.

Newcastle could also be able to make a compensation decision by FIFA at the arbitral tribunal for sport.

While this could take up to two years, the rule changes would enable ISAK to immediately join a new club.

This would mean that the team that signs him can do this free of charge without having to pay a transfer fee for potentially two years.

The prospect of waiting for compensation for as long as Newcastle could force Newcastle to sell Isak this month.

Since his arrival from Real Sociedad in 2022, he has achieved 62 goals in 109 appearances for the club.

Isak also found the network in the Club Carabao Cup final victory last season when she ended her 70-year waiting time for a large domestic trophy.
