Palace, however, still has to make an opening offer for the 30-year-old.
Akanji has not yet seen City this season and was not recorded in the Matchday squad against Tottenham on Saturday.
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has attributed his absence to the rotation.
He said: “Rodri and Phil were on the road last week. I often said with a deeper squad that I have to turn and the next game will be another.
“I try to keep everyone involved and not more seriously.”
Akanji’s city contract remained for two years after he came to the club in 2022.
He has won seven trophies since his arrival, including two Premier League titles and the Treble.
What is the latest in the future of Marc Guehi?
Guehi was able to leave Selhurst Park before the end of the transfer window.
The England star is last year of his palace contract, which runs at the end of the season.
Liverpool showed interest in a move all summer.

Manager Oliver Glasner hesitated that the 25-year-old will leave the club on September 1st before the deadline.
Palace recently sold Star Man Eberechi Eze to Arsenal in a club record business worth 67.5 million pounds.
After her victory of the conference league against Fredrikstad on Thursday, Glasner admitted: “I only know if Marc is going for Fredrikstad and is not available, we will have big problems, which is pretty clear.
“We can’t register anyone, so he has to stay on my side.
“We played with Jeff Lerma at the back today, he is a midfielder.”
Glasner continued: “We currently have no setback.

“And when Marc goes … I will try my boots because I was a central defender and this could be a good option, I’ll think about it.”
However, chairman Steve Parish offered a different view of the situation.
He said: “If Marc wants to sign a contract, he can stay. If he doesn’t want to sign a contract, we have to look at him. It is a difficult situation.
“Every club like us and especially when they are in Europe, the financial rules are much narrower than the Premier League. Everyone has to sell players to comply with the rules.
“So, players who leave a free free is not an ideal situation for the football club. I will not pretend that this is the case. So that’s a situation that we have to look at in the next 11 days.”
Previously, talk sport unveiled that Guehi is ready to see the rest of his contract before leaving free of charge next summer.
In January he would lead over a preliminary contract contract with clubs from overseas in January.
Liverpool has conducted discussions about Guehi, which is worth the palace for £ 40 million.
