Birmingham City gave fans at first glance what their replacement for St. Andrew’s could look like and unveiled the concept shots of a modern stadium that will be opened until the 2029/30 season.
The championship side, the spiritual home of which has stood since 1906, is planning a floor that could cost up to £ 3 billion.
The proposed design would increase the capacity of 29.409 to astonishing 62,000 and thus the eight-largest stadium in England-Ethas greater than Anfield (61,276) and only 850 seats in front of the Tottenham hotspur stadium.
The film material published by the club shows a futuristic “spaceship” inspired appearance in the signature Blue of the club, whereby the word “blues” contained prominently around the wrap. Fans can also expect spacious green rooms around the stadium and the roof areas for relaxation before the game.
Nick Smith, head of Birmingham City’s infrastructure, offered an update about the potential designs and added that the stadium will also be equipped for large-scale, non-football events.
However, he emphasized that the final design “changes” remains.
While the graphics are impressive, Birmingham first concentrate on the field – they have to be again in great time to fill the stands when this futuristic new home finally begins. Otherwise, all seats on the roof and green spaces in the world will not prevent these seats from feeling a little empty.
