Borussia Dortmund to ‘address’ away kit controversy after fan revolt

Borussia Dortmund’s brand new away kit for the 2025/26 season triggered anger at the supporters and prompted the association to respond to the counter-reaction and the promise.

The kit, which combines a white base with black sleeves and neon yellow details, was worn against Heidenheim for the first time in the 2-0 win on Saturday.

Instead of excitement, his debut was met in the stands and online. The fans unfolded banners who are shining as “The cruelest jersey in the league” While chants of “We want black and yellow jerseys” Before the kick -off, a great memory of the traditional colors of the club rang.

The reaction was not a child on social media. Many supporters branded the design as a betrayal of Dortmund’s historical identity, with critics argue, it looks more like a training pop as a shirt that is suitable for the famous personality Black yellow.

Club bosses have now undertaken to listen.

Managing Director Carsten Cramer took on personal responsibility for the consequences and said reporters: “The criticism was received and we speak to it. I will not always be able to please everyone when choosing jerseys.”

Sports director Sebastian Kehl was more measured and reminded the fans that opinions about the kit design are always shared.

“I think we have different opinions on jerseys every year,” he said. “It will never be that a Borussia Dortmund jersey hits a 100 percent permit. Basically, we know which colors our city and our club represent and that this reflects in the design of almost all jerseys.”

He added, with a touch of humor: “However, there are also people who want something younger, something fresh, something creative. The New Jersey brought BVB in Heidenheim. A successful jersey, I say. Everything else is a discussion that we consider as normal as a club.”

It remains to be seen whether the kit will appear again when Dortmund travels to Mainz on September 27, but if this is the case, it is best to believe that Dortmund fans have something to say.
