Harry Kane emerges as top transfer priority at European giants in potential £57million transfer

Harry Kane has reportedly been identified as Robert Lewandowski’s successor again – this time at Barcelona.

The 32-year-old replaced the Polish international as FC Bayern Munich’s best striker in 2023.

Kane has had another great performance for FC Bayern Munich this season.

Lewandowski let his contract at the Allianz Arena expire and moved to Catalonia on a free transfer.

And the 37-year-old, who has scored seven goals in nine LaLiga games this season, now finds himself in a similar situation with his contract expiring next summer.

This has led to the Blaugrana looking for a replacement at center forward and according to the Guardian, they have made Kane their main target.

Recruit Nou?

It is said that Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top scorer is seen as the ideal, slightly younger successor to Lewandowski.

They have even hinted that the Spanish giants could be willing to activate his £57m release clause, which comes into effect next year.

Should a move to the Nou Camp come about, Kane could work alongside his England teammate Marcus Rashford.

Rashford is currently on loan at Barca from Manchester United, but his temporary stay is expected to be converted into a permanent move.

While Kane is on Barcelona’s radar, there is no sign that he would push for a move to Spain.

Kane is currently tied to Bayern until 2027, but the club are interested in extending his stay at the club given the England captain’s starring role since his arrival in Germany.

Vincent Kompany’s side are ready to break their over-30s rule to fend off interest from their Champions League rivals.

Kane could follow in Lewandowski’s footsteps again.

While there is speculation about Kane’s future, the player himself has openly admitted that he is ready to leave his future to Bayern.

Last month he said: “As far as a longer stay goes, I could definitely see it happening.”

“I openly said a few weeks ago that I haven’t had these talks with Bayern yet, but if it came to that, I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.”

“Of course it depends on how the next year goes and what we achieve together.”

“I would say we are in a fantastic moment at the moment and I don’t think about anything else.

“As far as the Premier League is concerned, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I went to Bayern, I would have said for sure that I would come back.”

England captain Kane is in the running for Europe’s second Golden Shoe

“Now that I’ve been there a few years, I’d probably say it’s slowed down a bit, but I wouldn’t say I’d never go back.”

“What I’ve learned in my career is that different opportunities and different times come and things fall into place.”

“To go back to my first point about Bayern: At the moment I’m fully with Bayern.”

It wasn’t difficult for Kane to score goals for Bayern, with the Three Lions hero scoring 108 goals in 113 games across all competitions.

He has found the net 23 times this season and is aiming for his second European Golden Boot in three years.

Kane aims to score at least 40 goals in three consecutive seasons and is on track to break his personal record of 44, which he set in the 2023/24 season.
