Liverpool have been told to focus on strengthening their defense before looking to add another striker to their squad.
The Reds have emerged as potential suitors for Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window.

Arne Slot’s side could make a move for the Bournemouth man if his release clause kicks in in the new year.
Semenyo will be available for £65m in the early stages of the window.
His release clause now consists of £60m up front and a further £5m in add-on.
According to The Pitch Prospect, the Ghana international is also in favor of staying in the Premier League if he leaves the Cherries.
Who should Liverpool sign?
However, Scott Minto believes Liverpool’s priority should lie elsewhere once they are able to strengthen their squad again.
Instead, he has instructed Slot to revive his interest in one of his summer transfer targets.
The former Chelsea defender explained on The Pitch Prospect: “About Semenyo, and I’ve spoken to people about him and they say he’s a fantastic guy, a fantastic personality.”
“He’s powerful, he’s balanced, he’s strong, he’s skilled, he’s on both feet. He wants to keep an eye on his clips, so he wants to try to keep getting better and better.”
“He likes to keep his width and understands the tactical side of the game and is also quite contemporary. He has a long throw in him.”
“So he’s an excellent player but I don’t think Liverpool need that. I think they need Marc Guehi. That’s what I think they need.”

“They needed him in the summer, and I think they need him even more now.”
“If I were Palace I would hold on like everyone else and let him leave on a free because I think they have a great chance of winning the Conference League and what a historic season that would be for them again.”
“And each position they finish high on costs £2.5m to £3m, so they can claw back some money they could potentially get there.”
“To me, that’s someone like him who strengthens the defense and makes it seem like they’re a little bit stronger.”
Guehi had already seen a deadline day move to Anfield fall through in the final hours of the summer window.
The Crystal Palace captain’s contract expires at the end of the season and Guehi is expected to leave the club on a free transfer.

Overseas clubs will be able to agree a pre-contract with the English centre-back from January 1st.
However, Liverpool would have to agree a transfer fee with Palace to sign Guehi permanently in the middle of the season.
Guehi has made 18 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions so far this season, including all but one of their league games.
He was also instrumental in their FA Cup triumph last season and was also part of the team that beat Liverpool in the Community Shield in August.
