‘Hero’ – Tottenham’s future captain lauded for ‘life-saving actions’ after horror incident


Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic has been praised for his super-quick thinking which stopped an opposition player from swallowing his tongue.

The 18-year-old defender continues to make headlines for all the right reasons during his loan spell at Hamburger SV.

Tottenham signed the Croatian star from Hajduk Split in September 2023 but he is yet to play a senior game for the club.

Fifa Rules for foreign players under 18 years old delayed his arrival by two years after Spurs fans first saw him last summer.

Vuskovic scored and assisted on his unofficial debut in the 2-0 pre-season win over Reading in July before moving out on loan.

Since then it has looked as if he would hand over former Spurs boss Martin JolThat’s a bold prediction he will be better than Cristian Romero.

The central defender has scored two goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances and is one of the best in his position in Germany’s top division with his defensive actions, successful dribbling, chances created and aerial duels won.

However, Vuskovic achieved his most impressive rescue operation to date on Saturday in Hamburg’s 1-1 home draw against Frankfurt.

Former Leeds United player Rasmus Kristensen was in serious danger of swallowing his tongue as he appeared to have fallen unconscious after a collision with Miro Muheim.

Vuskovic immediately jumped in to help his struggling rival with his actions celebrated in the Bundesliga website as “potentially life-saving”.
