The Dutchman wants to play more regularly in the run-up to the World Cup.
Ake played more than 100 Premier League games for Bournemouth before joining Man City for £41 million in the summer of 2020.
The Cherries want a new central defender. Marcos Senesi will leave the club at the end of the season after rejecting numerous contract offers.
Crystal Palace also have Ake on their radar as they look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season and prepare for the impending departure of Marc Guehi.
United are eyeing an £87million teenager
Manchester United are the latest club to keep an eye on Leipzig young star Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast-born star was still playing semi-professional soccer in America in 2024.
Diomande has now become one of the most sought-after players in Europe, prompting Leipzig to put an £87m bounty on his head.
United have identified Diomande as a potential target if they fail to sign Antoine Semenyo, but would not pursue their interest in the Bundesliga player until the summer.
The Pitch Prospect exclusively revealed that Semenyo’s release clause of around £60m must be activated in the first ten days of the January transfer window.
The Bournemouth winger has offers on the table from United and Man City.

Hammers begin search for newest striker
West Ham have made inquiries with Championship pair Haji Wright and Josh Sargent as they seek a solution to their striker woes.
The Hammers have prioritized a new number 9 ahead of the upcoming transfer window after agreeing to send flop Niklas Fullkrug to AC Milan on loan.
With the moves of Joshua Zirkzee and Promise David from Manchester United looking difficult to accomplish, the Hammers could be promoted to the second division.
USA internationals Wright and Sargent have scored eight and six goals for Coventry and Norwich respectively this season.
The Pitch Prospect have been told Coventry will reject all offers for Wright.
Other names on the Hammers’ shortlist include Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is keen to leave Molineux, and Everton flop Beto.

Welsh prodigy wanted by FC Bayern
Bayern Munich are keeping an eye on Cardiff teenage sensation Dylan Lawlor, according to The Pitch Prospect.
Lawlor, who turns 20 on New Year’s Day, has already won three senior Wales caps and is seen by national coach Craig Bellamy as a key player for the future.
Premier League scouts flocked to South Wales to watch the cultured defender.
However, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is believed to have been tipped off by Bellamy, the Belgian’s assistant at Burnley.
Bellamy was in the crowd when Cardiff lost 3-1 to Chelsea in the EFL Cup quarter-finals last week and Lawlor impressed again.
