The Cherries were looking for a new goalkeeper amid concerns about their current form.

First-choice goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, signed for £25m from Chelsea, kept just one clean sheet in the club’s 10-game winless run.

Will Dennis has been the Serbian’s substitute but is yet to make a Premier League appearance and Bournemouth were keen to provide competition between the posts.

Forster is a more experienced option, having made 155 Premier League appearances with Southampton and Spurs, keeping 47 clean sheets.

The England international is best known for his time at Celtic, where he made 168 appearances and set a Scottish Premiership record of 1,256 minutes without conceding a goal.
