Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has announced that he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
The Brazilian moved from Real Madrid to Man United in 2022 and has played 146 games in the Red Devils jersey so far.

United have decided not to renew Casemiro’s contract with the club as part of their long-term plans to overhaul the squad, freeing up additional budget for possible transfers.
It is understood he has asked for the update on his future to be announced now that the Red Devils’ decision has already been made.
Man United decided not to offer him a shortened contract extension and had no plans to exercise his existing one-year option.
Casemiro’s impending departure was confirmed by the club on Thursday, releasing a statement announcing the impending departure.
He told United’s website: “I will carry Manchester United with me all my life.
“From the first day I stepped into this beautiful stadium I felt the passion for Old Trafford and the love I now share with our fans for this special club.
“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to be made in the next four months.
“We still have a lot ahead of us that we have to fight for together. My focus, as always, will be on doing my best to help our club succeed.”
Casemiro also released an emotional statement on social media with a video compilation of his time at United.
“I have decided that these will be my last four months at Old Trafford,” he began in the video, which included a compilation of his best moments.

Then he finished: “Forever grateful. Forever Red Devil.”
The caption of the 33-year-old’s post read: “Knowing when stages come to an end. Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel like you’ll be remembered and respected forever.”
“Four months in which I have to give everything for this badge and our goal. Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans.”
Casemiro’s career at Man United
Casemiro moved to Man United from Real Madrid under Erik ten Hag in 2022 for a transfer fee of around £60 million.
The five-time Champions League winner brought a lot of experience and aggression to the Red Devils’ midfield.
Over the next four seasons he played 146 games across all competitions, including 97 in the Premier League.

He has won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup with United, scoring in the final of the latter in 2023 to secure some silverware.
Man United have confirmed fans will be able to pay tribute to the veteran in his final game at Old Trafford later this year.
The club wrote in its statement: “Fans will have the opportunity to recognize Casemiro’s contributions at the final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest.”

Speaking to fans about his time at Man United, Casemiro said: “Since my presentation, my first day since I arrived at the airport, all the fans have been very warm to me. Not just me, but my whole family.”
“The day I entered the stadium for the first time, the fans were already chanting my name and my song, and I will never forget that.”
“This club means so much. Not just to me, but to my entire family. It is very special and I will carry this club with me throughout my life.”
