Casemiro will leave Man United at the end of the season.

United have decided not to renew Casemiro’s contract with the club as part of their long-term plans to overhaul the squad, freeing up additional budget for possible transfers.

It is understood he has asked for the update on his future to be announced now that the Red Devils’ decision has already been made.

Man United decided not to offer him a shortened contract extension and had no plans to exercise his existing one-year option.

Casemiro’s impending departure was confirmed by the club on Thursday, releasing a statement announcing the impending departure.

He told United’s website: “I will carry Manchester United with me all my life.

“From the first day I stepped into this beautiful stadium I felt the passion for Old Trafford and the love I now share with our fans for this special club.

“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to be made in the next four months.

“We still have a lot ahead of us that we have to fight for together. My focus, as always, will be on doing my best to help our club succeed.”
