Tottenham have launched a surprise bid to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool.
The Scottish star spent most of his career at Anfield, joining nine years ago in 2017 and establishing himself as a modern great.

Although Robertson still holds a crucial leadership role as vice-captain, he has been reduced to a supporting player this season with the arrival of Milos Kerkez.
As first reported by The Athletic, the Reds are currently negotiating with Spurs over an unexpected move for the 31-year-old in January.
The Pitch Prospect understands there is still a lot of work to be done before a deal is completed, but talks between the two clubs are progressing to reach an agreement before the end of the transfer window.
Robertson’s contract expires in the summer and Tottenham have already revealed plans to sign him as a free agent.
This is a move that came out of the blue, but the Spurs are looking to add a quality addition to Thomas Frank’s team.
Robertson moved from Hull City to Liverpool after they were relegated from the Premier League in 2017.
The initial transfer fee was £8 million, which is arguably one of the best deals in Premier League history given his previous successes.
Kerkez’s arrival means the left-back has only played 496 minutes in the Premier League this year, but he would be an excellent signing for Spurs.
Thomas Frank has already seen Conor Gallagher move from Atletico Madrid this month in a deal worth around £35million.
But given Destiny Udogie’s injury problems, Robertson could be just what Tottenham need to salvage their domestic season.
Spurs are currently in the bottom half of the table after their 2-1 defeat against West Ham United and have been eliminated from both domestic cups.

Robertson’s career at Liverpool
Robertson initially signed with Jürgen Klopp and became part of the best full-back duo in the world.
At the other end he had Trent Alexander-Arnold and the Scotland international was often seen bombing up and down either wing.
As he has gotten older, that part of his game has been lost, but he still played an important role in Liverpool’s Premier League title win under Arne Slot last season.
Robertson made 33 Premier League appearances and the Reds blew everyone away.
In total, he played 363 games for the Reds in almost nine years at Anfield.
In that time he has won everything, including the Premier League twice and the Champions League twice.
It looked like he would leave in the summer as contract negotiations didn’t really progress.

Speaking about his future earlier this month, he said: “We have now had discussions which will remain private; we will see what happens.”
“I still have five months left and we have to look at the possibility of staying or leaving and things like that. I will sit down with my family and decide.
“After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being a part of it,
and being a Liverpool player. I wanted to qualify for the World Cup and luckily we managed to do that. I have to see what me and my family want.”
But if he is to go, what a career and when he looks back on it he has nothing but pride.
I gave absolutely everything for the club and the club was very good to me. They rewarded me with good contracts when I played well.
“No one can deny what I have given to this club. I gave everything day in and day out and put in some performances that I thought were good and I hope others do the same.”
“I’ve won a lot of trophies here and had a lot of good days.
“My relationship with the people higher up the club has always been excellent. I signed up for £8m [from Hull City in 2017] and then doing what I did helps with that.
“I remind people of that all the time. The relationship is good. We’ve given each other more than enough respect over the last eight and a half years and we’ll see what comes.”
If this is the end of his time as a Liverpool player, he will no doubt follow the well wishes of all the fans because he was incredible.
