Jérôme Roussillon has confirmed he has left Charlton Athletic just 60 days after joining the club on a free transfer.
On November 28th, Roussillon, who has played ten Champions League games in his career, surprisingly signed a contract with Charlton.

But after the ex-Wolfsburg star’s surprise arrival, he was never used in the Addicks’ first team again.
During his two months with the club, he was only in the squad four times, missing eight games entirely.
Roussillon made his only appearances in the Premier League Cup for Charlton’s under-21 team, playing twice in December.
He confirmed he was leaving the club on Monday by posting an Instagram story with a message to the team.
The Guadeloupe international wrote alongside a picture of The Valley: “The Charlton chapter comes to an end.”
“Many thanks to the club for the welcome. Every experience is part of the journey.”
“A special thank you goes to the players and I wish them all the best and the club much success for the future.”
“As far as I’m concerned, full concentration on the next challenge.”
Charlton has yet to officially confirm Roussillon’s departure.
He was not named in the squad for Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Millwall.

Why did Charlton sign Roussillon?
After Roussillon signed in November, Charlton manager Nathan Jones confirmed why he wanted to sign the left-back.
Jones said: “We are delighted to be able to attract someone with Jérôme’s experience.”
“With Josh Edwards’ injury, we were obviously weak in that area and it’s the only position where we don’t really have coverage.”
“That’s why we’re pleased to have Jérôme on board to give us more competition and quality in this area.”
Despite these comments, he did not feature at all for Charlton, with Robert Apter, Ibrahim Fullah, Amari’i Bell and Tyreece Campbell playing on the left instead.
Defender Luke Chambers also joined Liverpool on loan last week and that move appeared to be the trigger for Roussillon’s sacking.

Roussillon’s career
Roussillon arrived at Charlton as a highly experienced defender, having played almost 350 games throughout his career.
The 32-year-old has played 20 games in European football, including ten in the Champions League and ten in the Europa League.
He played for Montpellier and Wolfsburg before moving to Union Berlin in January 2023.
At the end of last season he was released by the German team, ending his successful five-year career in the Bundesliga.
Roussillon’s impressive CV made a move to Charlton in the Championship seem like a major coup.
Instead, his time at the club is already over and his next step is currently unknown.
