According to The Pitch Prospect, Xabi Alonso could become a candidate to replace Pep Guardiola if he leaves Manchester City.
Guardiola could leave the Premier League giants at the end of this season, capping a glittering decade of success as manager.

He has won six Premier League titles and the Champions League since joining in 2016 and his current contract runs until 2027.
However, there are doubts over his long-term future at City and the club is now preparing for life without the 55-year-old.
Alonso is likely to be considered as his potential replacement after his short spell at Real Madrid.
The Spaniard surprisingly left Los Blancos by mutual consent last month, despite winning 24 of his 34 games as manager.
His exit was announced less than 24 hours after Madrid’s 3-2 defeat to rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Alonso was closely linked to his former club colleague Liverpool in the summer of 2024 after Jurgen Klopp decided to leave Anfield.
Arne Slot was eventually hired as the new head coach, despite the Dutchman having endured a difficult second season with the Reds.
Just months after winning the Premier League, Liverpool are in sixth place, 14 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Slot is facing increasing pressure in the hotseat and club officials could make a decision on his position at the end of the season.
Alonso would certainly be considered as his replacement, but City could pose strong competition for his services.

City are slipping in the title race
Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat against Manchester United at the end of January left City just four points behind the leaders.
A trip to struggling Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday offered a chance to keep the pressure on the Gunners.
However, they blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 and are now six points clear of the top.
City have won just one of their last six Premier League games and will again be hoping for another slip-up from Arsenal.
The two teams are currently scheduled to meet at the Etihad Stadium for the second division duel on April 18th.
It’s a game that could decide this season’s champions as City look for a seventh and possibly final title under Guardiola.
