New Liverpool star Jeremy Jacquet left screaming in agony after ‘serious’ injury

Jeremy Jacquet has suffered a serious shoulder injury just days after announcing his transfer to Liverpool.

The centre-back, who is set to join the Reds for £60m this summer, was in action for Rennes against Lens on Saturday evening.

Jacquet was substituted in the 69th minute of the 3-1 Ligue defeat, screaming in pain due to a shoulder injury.

Rennes boss Habib Beye subsequently confirmed that the 20-year-old’s injury was serious.

“For Jeremy it is his shoulder and for Abdelhamid [Ait Boudlal, who was also injured]it is muscular.

“We’ll have time to see it, but it’s definitely pretty serious for both of them.”

It is unclear how long Jacquet, who made his 19th league start this season, will be sidelined.

Liverpool get the future star

With Ibrahima Konate’s contract expiring at the end of the season, it’s no surprise that Liverpool are eyeing a new defender.

Their Premier League rivals Chelsea have been heavily linked with France Under-21 star Jacquet throughout January.

However, it was Liverpool who managed to secure a deal ahead of the 2026/27 season.
