Antonio has held initial discussions with Charlton as they look for a new club.

Antonio left the London Stadium after ten years with the Hammers when his contract expired.

He has now not played senior club football since breaking his leg in a car accident in December 2024.

However, he could now be primed for a return to the Championship with Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks have held initial discussions with the 35-year-old about working with Nathan Jones’ side.

However, nothing has progressed at this point as Antonio is looking for a new club.

He had previously held talks with Leicester City over a short-term contract.

Antonio had been training with the Foxes last month before suffering an injury that caused the move to fall through.

Charlton currently sit 18th in the Championship following their promotion last season.

Wednesday’s win against Stoke City took them seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Last season’s League One play-off winners play at home against also struggling Portsmouth on Tuesday evening.

Back to the second league?

A move to The Valley would allow Antonio a return to the Championship.

He previously scored 28 goals and provided 30 assists in 142 appearances in the division for Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Reading.

During his time at West Ham, he became the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 68 goals.

The Jamaican international scored 83 goals in 323 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions.

Despite his 14-month absence from club football, Antonio has been playing competitively since his car accident.
