A contender to become Barcelona’s next president has revealed his intention to sign Harry Kane.
Xavier Vilajoana is a candidate who wants to replace Joan Laporta in the managerial position at Barca. The elections are scheduled for March.

And the 53-year-old has hinted at some ambitious transfer plans should he be elected president.
Speaking to Spanish media, Vilajoana, who has already made contact with Kane’s camp, spoke about the England captain.
He also explained the exact reason why he wants a player like Kane to go to Spain and lead the club’s team.
Vilajoana said with a smile: “Kane is one of the options.” [to sign].
“I used Harry Kane as an example because his profile at La Masia is not easy to create.
“He is a very good goalscorer, he has a lot of talent, he can connect the game very well, drop deeper and is one of the players who can play in tight spaces.”
“He has many skills that complement Barcelona’s style of play. He is an example of a player who could fit in.”
La Masia, Barcelona’s famous youth academy, has produced a number of superstars including Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal and more.
But usually tricky, talented players come out of the academy rather than strikers like Kane.
And that’s why Vilajoana may be aiming for the ambitious move of bringing him to Barca should he become president.

“We can do it”
Vilajoana had already spoken earlier this month about his aim to sign Kane for Barcelona if he were to replace Laporta.
He said: “Looking after our La Masia players is my top priority, but we will always need the ability to attract elite talent.”
“We can do it. By putting an end to the financial chaos and returning to the 1:1 rule.”
“A commitment for me is a commitment for the ambitious Barcelona.”
Kane has been linked with Barca in recent months, with contract negotiations with Bayern still pending.
His current contract in Germany ends in 2027.

Kane talks about the future
With doubts still lingering over Kane’s future at Bayern, his chances of replacing Robert Lewandowski at Barca still remain.
But he doesn’t seem to be planning to leave the Bundesliga yet – at least according to his statements at the end of 2025.
Kane said in November: “Moving to FC Bayern was one of the best decisions of my life. I’m happy here. I’m open to staying longer.”
“We will be having discussions about a possible new contract in the coming months. I have just over 18 months left on my contract. I’m sure there will be discussions soon.”
And specifically regarding the connections to Barcelona, he later admitted: “I had no contact with anyone, no one contacted me.”
“I feel very comfortable in the current situation, even if we haven’t discussed my situation with Bayern yet.”
“There’s no rush. I’m really happy in Munich. You can see that in the way I play. If there is contact, then we’ll see.”
“But I’m not thinking about the new season yet. First up is the World Cup in the summer. And it’s very unlikely that anything will change after this season.”
