Man City step up Elliot Anderson interest after watching him inflict title blow

According to The Pitch Prospect, Manchester City are ready to increase their interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.

Anderson was already on City’s mind before scoring a superb goal to earn Forest a 2-2 draw at the Etihad on Wednesday night.

Man City are keen to land Nottingham Forest star Anderson, who secured his team a point at the Etihad on Wednesday.

The England international is seen as a potential successor to Rodri and City believe Anderson would prefer a move to them over neighbors Manchester United, who are also interested.

Forest value Anderson at more than double the £35m they paid Newcastle to sign him in the summer of 2024.

Transfer conditions

But any move by Anderson is likely to depend on whether Rodri stays at the club beyond this season.

Real Madrid are said to be keeping an eye on the former Ballon d’Or winner’s situation at the Etihad Stadium as his contract expires in June 2027.

Rodri is yet to agree a new contract and if he fails to do so in the coming months City could be forced into a summer sale.

The Spaniard has been hampered by a serious knee injury over the past 18 months, with captain Bernardo Silva being deployed as a makeshift midfielder at times.

However, the Portuguese star’s future is also in doubt as his contract expires this summer.

And that could mean all roads lead to Anderson, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past year.
