Reports on Monday suggested Fernandes is eyeing a new challenge outside the club and a move to Saudi Arabia is being considered.
Fernandes was one of the club’s few bright spots in a somewhat forgettable season.
The midfielder has scored 15 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions this season but has missed United’s last two games through injury.
Fernandes is struggling to be fit for Wednesday’s visit of Newcastle United as Erik ten Hag’s side remain in the fight for European qualification.
The Red Devils are three points behind Newcastle and Chelsea and a win over Eddie Howe’s side would put United in a strong position to secure a European place in the final game of the season in Brighton.
Should their attempts to qualify for the league fail, United can secure a place in the Europa League on May 25 by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Widely regarded as one of Manchester United’s best signings of the modern era, Fernandes will be key to the club’s hopes of avenging last year’s cup final disappointment.
The Portuguese joined the club from Sporting CP in January 2020 in a deal worth £55 million.

The 29-year-old signed a new contract in 2022 with a term until 2026 and an option for a further year.
Fernandes did not always enjoy the universal approval of the Manchester United fanbase during his time at the club, with some fans openly criticizing the star’s form.
However, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has given his support to the Portuguese, pointing to Sunday’s defeat to Arsenal without the injured Fernandes as to why the midfielder plays such a key role.
