Ryan Fraser has admitted he will “try his best” to secure a permanent move to Southampton this summer.
The Scottish winger plays for Newcastle United and has one year left on his contract at St. James’ Park.

But since he hasn’t played for Eddie Howe’s team since October 2022, the end is certain for the former Bournemouth star.
Looking to give his career a new boost, Fraser moved on loan to Championship side Southampton, where he scored eight goals and helped the Saints regain promotion to the Premier League.
Fraser played a key role in their play-off final win over Leeds and his 173 top-flight appearances would undoubtedly be a huge asset to the Saints next season.
When asked by the Daily Echo if he would play for Southampton next season, Fraser laughed: “I will do my best.”
Speaking about the promotion and success in the play-off final with the Saints this season, Fraser said: “This is probably the best feeling I’ve ever had in my career.”
“Of course I’ve had other promotions, but this one doesn’t come close. This is by far the best feeling I’ve ever had.”
“I’ve been saying it for so long, but it’s all about the family, the atmosphere, the fans, the boss, the guys – I could just go on and there’s just no better feeling.”
“A lot depended on this game and the boys were brilliant. They defended for their lives and showed a different side of us.”

He continued, “I think we get each other through this. And we’re just guys and we’re so close.”
“The coach said it in the locker room. Exactly what the guys have probably had as a team over the last couple of seasons and what we are now.
“We don’t have any black sheep. Everyone is a top person. Top players too, but there were top people before that.”
