The Pitch Prospect reported last year that Saudi Pro League chiefs had the Belgian international in their sights as one of their top targets.

And we also told you in April that the former Chelsea player remains a high priority as the Saudis look to further raise the profile of their league.

However, City are believed to be relaxed about their situation this transfer window and would demand around £100 million to consider parting ways with the midfielder.

It is believed that Saudi chiefs believe they have a better chance of signing De Bruyne on a free transfer next year, with MLS also interested.

And the six-time Premier League winner has now dropped his clearest hint yet that he could soon swap England for the Middle East.

In an interview with Belgian news channel Het Laatste Nieuws, he said he was “open” to a possible move.

He said: “For [wife] Michele, an exotic adventure is okay. These are also conversations that we are having more and more often as a family.

“At my age, you have to be open to everything. Incredible sums of money are at stake, perhaps the end of my career. You have to think about that sometimes.”

“Then you have to think about what that might mean next. But at the moment I haven’t had to think about that.”

“I still have a year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen. My eldest is eight years old now and knows nothing except England.

“He also asks how long I will continue to play for City. When the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in some way.”

In an injury-plagued season that saw him sidelined for five months with a thigh injury, De Bruyne still managed to contribute six goals and 18 assists in 26 games in all competitions.

Since his return to the starting line-up, City have not lost a single game in the top flight and narrowly beat Arsenal to win their sixth league title in the last seven years.
