Palhinha is again a target for Bayern Munich.

Palhinha is apparently interested in a move to FC Bayern.

The midfielder almost joined Bayern Munich last summer after the team completed a £55 million deal with Fulham.

However, this deal fell through on the last day of the transfer deadline.

Palhinha played 39 games for Fulham last season, scoring four goals.

The Portuguese star joined from Sporting CP in 2022 and shone in the Premier League in 79 games for Marco Silva’s team.

The 28-year-old will join Portugal in the summer for the 2024 European Championship, where his future will continue to be a topic of conversation.

In February, Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan told The Pitch Prospect that the club would consider any offers that “make sense” for Palhinha.

The Cottagers boss described the midfielder as a key part of Marco Silva’s team and a “huge” part of the club, but admitted that any player is saleable for the right price.

Kompany won the race for the job at Bayern Munich, despite being relegated with Burnley.

“Joao Palhinha is a phenomenal player and I think Joao’s adaptation to the Premier League has shown that he is an incredible player,” said the Fulham boss. “He is an important part of the Fulham core and we are delighted to have him here.”

“I want to keep him in the team for as long as possible and we were very happy to extend his contract. But if an offer came along that made sense for everyone, I think that would have to be considered for every player at the right time.”

“We wanted to keep him and that’s what we did. He’s staying with us and Palhinha is in high demand. He was a great signing for us.”

“I really enjoy working with Marco Silva. He is someone I work very closely with on transfers and building the team. I speak to him regularly about these things. We made a great signing in Joao and now there is a huge market. Eyes have been opened.”

“He is a great player for Fulham, we are happy to have him and I want Joao to stay with us as long as possible.

“But that’s part of the business: when you sign a player, you know that hopefully you’ll increase his value and that could mean new people coming in.

“It’s an exciting part of the industry but he is certainly a key player for our team and we are delighted to have him at Fulham.”

Kompany wants to strengthen his team after Bayern finished third in the Bundesliga last season.

The German side have also been linked with a move to Crystal Palace and England star Adam Wharton, just months after he joined from Blackburn.
