Wolves reject Newcastle’s stunning player-plus-cash deal for Max Kilman

Wolves have rejected a player-plus-cash offer from Newcastle for Elliot Anderson and Max Kilman, The Pitch Prospect has learned.

Gary O’Neil’s side would be tempted to sell the centre-back if they receive offers above £45m this summer.

Newcastle are the latest Premier League club to show interest in Kilman.

An opening offer of £25 million from West Ham was rejected by Wolves, although Newcastle are also interested in Kilman.

They reportedly made an offer for a player plus cash, but this was also rejected by the West Midlands team.

The deal would have seen Newcastle’s young product Anderson leave Molineux and move to St. James’ Park.

He made his debut for the Magpies’ first team in January 2021 and has made a total of 55 appearances in midfield for them.

Anderson missed much of the 2023-24 season with a back injury, but returned in time for the final three months.

The Daily Mail reported that he wants to stay at Newcastle and hopes to negotiate a new contract.

Wolves captain Kilman has made 151 appearances for the club since signing from Maidenhead in 2018.

A move to West Ham would mean a reunion with Julen Lopetegui, who made him captain at Molineux in the 2022/23 season.

Kilman’s current contract runs until 2028, so any interested club will be demanding a high transfer fee to sign a deal.

West Ham were already active in the summer transfer window and signed 18-year-old winger Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.

The Pitch Prospect has learned that they are interested in Udinese defender Nehuen Perez, and Lopetegui is keen to reunite with Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

Newcastle have signed Lloyd Kelly after he left Bournemouth, with the centre-back having rejected European interest to sign a five-year contract.

Eddie Howe’s side are also close to signing Lewis Hall permanently for £28 million from Chelsea, due to the obligation to buy clause from his loan spell last season.
