In recent years, Chelsea’s strikers have struggled to make much of an impression and Diego Costa is probably the last successful star in attack.
With the summer transfer window now open, they could be ready to approach Barcelona and sign a graduate of their academy.
Guiu has an exit clause of 6 million euros [£5.07million] Bayern Munich is another interested club.
The Blues believe Guiu has great resale potential.
The 18-year-old only made seven appearances for Barcelona’s first team, but made a huge impression on his debut for the club.
In October, he came on as a substitute against Athletic Bilbao and scored the decisive goal 23 seconds after coming on.
Guiu’s goal, a low shot through the goalkeeper’s legs, elicited tears of joy and applause from his delighted family in the stands.
Two months later, he increased his goal tally for Barcelona to two by scoring in a 3–2 defeat to Royal Antwerp in the Champions League.
Guiu is the latest name to be linked with Chelsea as the club continues to search for a new striker or centre-forward.

Benjamin Sesko, who was also in talks with Arsenal and Manchester United, effectively ended a possible move by signing a new contract with RB Leipzig.
Chelsea also has its eye on Aston Villa star Jhon Duran, while Maresca admires the Colombian.
According to The Pitch Prospect, Atletico Madrid have rejected a £34 million offer from the Blues for Spanish striker Samu Omorodion.
Chelsea completed their first transfer of the summer earlier this month when Tosin Adarabioyo joined on a free transfer.
They could also soon announce their first departure, with Villa having agreed a deal worth more than £35 million for Ian Maatsen.
