Everton eye up Championship star who scored ‘goal of the century’ as fourth signing of the summer

Everton are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing Hull winger Jaden Philogene, The Pitch Prospect has learned.

It is believed that the Tigers would be willing to part with the 22-year-old if they receive a transfer fee of around £15 million.

Philogene made headlines in February after scoring a stunning goal in a 2-1 win at Rotherham.

Dubbed the ‘Goal of the Century’ by fans, the former Aston Villa striker simply shot past his marker before his rabona shot sailed into the top corner.

It was one of 12 goals the youngster scored in 32 league games in the Championship last season.

He also contributed six assists, helping Hull narrowly miss out on the play-off places.

Philogene only joined the Yorkshire team last summer for £5 million from Villa, for whom he made six first-team appearances.

Should he move to Merseyside, he could be Everton’s fourth signing in a hectic summer at Goodison Park.

Everton announced the signing of Tim Iroegbunam from Villa for £9 million last week after being impressed by the 20-year-old midfielder.

They then confirmed that they had signed Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds for another season.

The Toffees are also expected to announce the permanent signing of Marseille striker Iliman Ndiaye.

The Pitch Prospect understands that the Ligue 1 club hope to recoup most of the £20 million it paid to Sheffield United in 2023.

There were also many departures at Everton, for example winger Lewis Dobbin was sold to Villa.

Meanwhile, defender Ben Godfrey is close to joining Champions League side Atalanta for £10 million.
