Man City reject opening offer for Ederson from Al Nassr as link-up with Cristiano Ronaldo denied

Manchester City have rejected a £25 million offer for goalkeeper Ederson from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, The Pitch Prospect has learned.

We reported earlier this month that the Premier League champions were preparing to make an offer for the Brazilian international.

The offer has now been received, but Man City have rejected Al Nassr’s opening offer.

The reason for this is that the club is demanding a transfer fee of over £30 million before considering a transfer fee for the goalkeeper.

Should Ederson move to Al Nassr, he would join former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo as well as his former City teammate Aymeric Laporte.

The 30-year-old joined from Benfica in the summer of 2017 and has won a number of trophies.

These include six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups and one Champions League championship.

Ederson has played 332 games for Man City in all competitions.

His current contract expires in June 2026.

Man City extended the contract of their second goalkeeper Stefan Ortega last month, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Ederson has won 17 important hours with City.

He impressed when he filled in for Ederson during the Brazilian’s injury break last season and would likely move up to No. 1 should Ederson leave.

Ederson could still be the latest City star to move from Manchester to Saudi Arabia.

Al Nassr’s Laporte was sold by City last summer in a deal worth £25.6 million.

Meanwhile, Riyad Mahrez joined Al Nassr’s rivals Al Ahli for £30 million in the same transfer window.
