Zinedine Zidane joins fans in welcoming Kylian Mbappe to packed Bernabeu as Real Madrid star’s proud mum fights back tears

Kylian Mbappe was finally introduced as a Real Madrid player.

Mbappe joined on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning of the summer after his contract at the Parc des Princes expired.

And after years of speculation about a move to the Spanish giants, Mbappe will finally play at the Santiago Bernabeu in August.

Thousands of fans filled Los Blancos’ stadium on Tuesday afternoon to welcome their new Galactico.

The Santiago Bernabeu is completely sold out after fans quickly snapped up free tickets for the event, which also featured former stars such as legendary midfielder and former coach Zinedine Zidane.

Before Mbappe came out, Real Madrid showed a montage of his career so far, including clips of himself as a youngster wearing the Los Blancos jersey and even some previously unreleased footage of him training with Zidane.

Mbappe then entered the pitch wearing his Real Madrid jersey to great cheers. His mother was visibly moved when she greeted him.

The club also confirmed on Tuesday that Mbappe had passed the medical examination after returning from the 2024 European Championship with France.

“Hello everyone. I will try to speak Spanish.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be here, just incredible. I spent endless nights dreaming of one day playing for Real Madrid and today I am a happy person,” Mbappe said in his speech at the Bernabeu.

“I would like to thank President Florentino Perez for always having great confidence in me,” he said in his speech at the Bernabeu.

“I would also like to thank all the people who have made a great effort to allow me to be here today and who have done so much to enable me to enjoy this moment.

“My family is so happy here, I can see my mother crying.”

“Now I have another dream. The dream of doing justice to the history of this club.

“I can promise that I will give everything for this club and for this badge.”

“I also want to send a message to all the children who are here today. I felt the same as you, I had this dream and today it has come true. I can tell you that you can make your dreams come true if you have the passion.

“I’m very excited. The fact that I’m speaking so much means it’s important for me to be here today.

“This is the club of my dreams and the greatest club in the history of world football. Hala Madrid.”

The 25-year-old seemed set to leave PSG for good in the summer of 2022 when he was approached by Real Madrid, but the player decided to sign a new two-year deal with the French giants instead.

Now he has received a signing bonus of £128.5 million after finally agreeing to move to Spain.

Real Madrid’s club shop website reportedly crashed earlier this month as fans rushed to order Mbappe shirts.

The striker will wear the number 9 shirt at the Bernabeu, following in the footsteps of Ronaldo, Raul and Karim Benzema.

This is undoubtedly the biggest transfer in world football this summer – if not the whole year – and fans around the world will be watching with bated breath to see how the Frenchman performs in La Liga.

Mbappe only scored one goal at the European Championship: a penalty against Poland.

The tournament was once again a bitter disappointment for Les Bleus, as they were eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual champions Spain.

But now Mbappe hopes to put his summer worries behind him and make a big impact in Spain.

In 308 games for PSG, he has been involved in 364 goals and with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. at his side, he could even surpass that number.
