Kubo has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool this summer.

The Japanese media company Sports Nippon reported that a transfer fee of 60 million euros [£50million] The offer price has been set and negotiations are “in the final phase”.

Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail said these reports were “premature” as Liverpool were waiting to gain a foothold in the transfer market.

However, signing Kubo could mean the departure of a key player, as The Pitch Prospect has learned that Madrid are interested in signing Alexander-Arnold.

Kubo left Madrid in 2022 and moved to Sociedad for 6 million euros [£5million] for 50 percent of the rights to the Japanese international, according to The Athletic.

This means that Madrid can re-sign him for half the sale price or take 50 percent of Sociedad’s sale proceeds.

As a result, Carlo Ancelotti’s team could receive financial support as part of their hopes of signing Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back is entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool and could therefore move on a free transfer next summer.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool would consider a move for their academy graduate, although there have been no talks about a new contract so far.

If the 25-year-old moves to Madrid, he would join a team that is likely to dominate European football in the coming years.

The Spanish record champions completed the sensational free signing of Kylian Mbappe after he left Paris Saint-Germain and recently presented him at the sold-out Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid already had attacking talents like Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo before his arrival, but have now become even stronger.

Jude Bellingham is also one of their most important stars. He and Alexander-Arnold were close friends during their time with England at Euro 2024.
