As The Pitch Prospect has learned, Ipswich have reached an agreement in principle with Man City regarding the loan of Kalvin Phillips.
Fulham and Everton were also discussed as possible destinations for the 28-year-old, but the promoted team won the race.

The former England international is desperately trying to rebuild his career after a difficult time at Man City.
Phillips signed a six-year, £42.5 million contract with Man City in July 2022.
Despite initial positive effects, coach Pep Guardiola said upon his return from the World Cup in December 2022 that Phillips was overweight, a few months later Guardiola apologized.
He joined West Ham on loan for six months in January but struggled with fitness and form and a permanent return was ruled out.
His loan spell reached a low point in March during a 4-3 away defeat to Newcastle United.
The Hammers led 3-1 but Phillips conceded a penalty shortly after coming on.
After the game, he was seen giving the West Ham fans the middle finger as they hurled abuse at him.
Phillips would perhaps welcome a fresh start at newly promoted Ipswich.
Phillips, who was not used as a substitute in last weekend’s Community Shield victory, was even used in defence in pre-season to get playing time.
“He is a central midfielder, but I have often said that Kalvin likes to see the whole game in front of him,” said Guardiola.

“When he’s in the middle and surrounded by players, he struggles a little bit. But he’s helped us a lot in the last few games on tour. I should have seen that earlier. His confidence is back.”
Guardiola previously admitted: “I know Kalvin is a really good player when he has the ball and can see the whole pitch in front of him. When he has little space, he has more problems.”
“That’s why he puts in an incredible amount of effort despite our problems in his position. He was confident on the ball and helps us a lot.”
