‘In a heartbeat’ – Crystal Palace chief reveals he would love to bring back Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace owner Steve Parish admitted he would like to have Wilfried Zaha back at the club.

However, he admitted that a deal with Galatasaray was unlikely two weeks before the end of the transfer window.

Zaha desperately longs for a return to the Premier League.

Zaha left Palace on a free transfer last summer and moved to the Turkish Süper Lig club, where he was finally able to play Champions League football.

The Pitch Prospect has learned that the 31-year-old is keen to return to the Premier League, but a deal is proving difficult.

Leicester had also negotiated for the winger, but the cost of a loan was too high.

Speaking to The Pitch Prospect’s Sunday Edition, Parish said: “I would bring Wilf Zaha back in a heartbeat. He is, you know, part of our club, part of our history, as I have said countless times.”

“There are few people who can claim to be at the heart of the club’s resurrection and Wilfried is certainly one of them.

“We stayed in the league sometimes because of his will, so it was a given for us.

“Unfortunately, for various reasons, it doesn’t look like that will be possible this summer. We wish him all the best and I stay in touch with him from time to time.”

“I’m glad he had a good season last season.

“He has fulfilled his dreams. He has played in the Champions League, so it’s a great story for him, but if he was available, of course we would be interested.”

Zaha played 458 times for Palace during his two terms, scoring 90 goals.

Parish’s agenda also included a discussion about Marc Guehi.

The Eagles have rejected four transfer offers from Newcastle, the most recent of which totalled around £65 million.

Parish said: “Marc is a great player and we are a club that has to accept that where we are now, we are often not the target.

Guehi was the subject of several transfer offers.

“We are a place you travel through and when we get the right offers for players, we have to look at them. We don’t have that at the moment.”

“If we can do that, things could change but at the moment Marc is a Palace player. I’m sure he will be on the teamsheet today and we’re really happy to see him there.”
