Armando Broja to Ipswich could collapse as Premier League rivals consider swoop for Chelsea striker

As The Pitch Prospect has learned, Armando Broja’s move to Ipswich is on the verge of falling through following his medical.

The Tractor Boys are currently negotiating the terms of the deal with Chelsea, which includes a loan with a £30 million commitment to avoid relegation.

Everton remain interested in Broja, whose move to Ipswich seemed all but certain this summer after the deal was agreed in principle.

The transfer is believed to have stalled due to paperwork issues and, while it is not completely off, Ipswich are reportedly considering alternative destinations.

Broja is not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans at Chelsea, but the potential failure of his move to Portman Road increases the likelihood of him staying.

The Blues are keen to cash in on unwanted academy players in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules and have bought ten new players this summer.

Conor Gallagher was recently sold to Atletico Madrid for £33 million and Trevoh Chalobah is also on the transfer list.

Broja is one of a number of players who were forced to train away from the first team at Chelsea due to the squad being too large.

The 22-year-old was loaned to Fulham in the second half of last season, but was rarely used due to the form of Rodrigo Muniz.

He returned in September 2023 after a serious knee injury that kept him out of action for nine months.

Chelsea, who recently added Joao Felix and Pedro Neto to their long list of strikers, are also desperate to get rid of expensive signings Romelu Lukaku and Raheem Sterling.

The Pitch Prospect has learned that Lukaku has now signed a three-year contract with Serie A side Napoli.

Chelsea want to sell him for £38 million after he failed to make a single appearance for the club in two years.

Meanwhile, both Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are said to be interested in Sterling.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth are considering loaning Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, although the Blues would have to pay a significant portion of his salary themselves.

And Chelsea are reportedly still on the hunt for a striker amid links to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen – six days before the transfer window closes.
