But this summer saw a return to lucrative deals, with top-flight clubs spending a total of over £1.5 billion.

When does the summer transfer window close?
The Premier League summer transfer window is shorter this year, with deals ending on Friday, August 30th, 11pm.
The English winter transfer window then opens on New Year’s Day, runs until Monday 3 February 2025 and closes at 11pm.
The top division normally closes its summer market on September 1, but has brought the deadline forward to be in line with other major leagues.
The EFL and Scottish Premiership gambling windows also close at 11pm tonight, but times vary slightly across Europe.
