Jamie Carragher expects Mohamed Salah to be a Liverpool player next season, despite his recent comments on his future.
Salah helped Liverpool to a convincing 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, scoring one goal and also providing the assists for the Reds’ other two goals, which were scored by Luis Diaz.

However, Salah’s statements after the game at Old Trafford made bigger headlines: The 32-year-old made it clear that this season would be his last at Liverpool.
“I had a good summer, I had a lot of time to work on myself and think positively because as you know this is my last year at the club,” said Salah.
“I just want to enjoy it and not think about it.
“I feel free to play football and we will see what happens next year.”
Salah’s contract at Anfield expires in the summer, meaning he could leave Merseyside on a free transfer, but the Egyptian says the club have not contacted him about a new deal.
“When I went into the game, I thought: ‘Look, this could be the last time [at Old Tafford]'” Salah continued.
“Nobody has talked to me about a contract, so I will play my last season and then see how the season turns out.
“It’s not up to me, it’s up to the club, but we’ll see.”
When asked about Salah’s future, Reds head coach Slot said: “It’s a lot of ‘ifs’.”
Right now he’s one of us and I’m really happy that he’s one of us and he played really well. I don’t talk about players’ contracts, but I could talk for hours about how Mo played today.”

Liverpool fans everywhere will be worried that one of the club’s greatest players could leave for no reason, but Carragher is more relaxed about the situation.
Should Salah leave Liverpool, Saudi Arabia is the most likely destination, but Carragher is convinced that the player has a lot to offer and does not want to take a step back any time soon.
“I think Mo Salah is obsessed. A bit like Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goalscoring records, appearance records and longevity in the game,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“Most of us stopped playing football at 35, but I think the way the boy looks after himself, he can probably play until he’s 40 or at least until his late 30s.
“I don’t think the situation in Saudi Arabia will play a role for Mo Salah next season. He is too good a player. He plays in the best league in the world for one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
“I think whether this season or the next two seasons, he is one of the best players to ever play for Liverpool, alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard.”
“He’s possibly one of the best wingers or best outside players we’ve seen in this league.”
“Of course you fight to keep him,” Carragher added. “It’s not about throwing money at him. When you get a new contract it’s not about what you’ve done in the past, it’s about what you’re going to do in the future.”
“Most players in their mid-30s can no longer do what they did before. It might be different for him.”
“I think there will be discussions there. Of course Liverpool will want to keep him and Virgil van Dijk.”
“It will probably be about salaries. Will they get the same salary as before? Because will they be the same players in the next two or three years? That is the debate that will be had.”
“I would be very surprised if Mo Salah doesn’t play for Liverpool next season because I think he would want to break every record in the club’s history.”
