Kylian Mbappe’s attempt to get Paris Saint-Germain to pay him €55 million (£46.5 million) in what he believes are unpaid wages and bonuses has failed.
The French striker, who moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer, had applied for a payment order after his bitter departure from his former club.

However, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) instead decided that the 25-year-old should initiate mediation proceedings with his old club in the matter.
The dispute goes back to Mbappe’s contract extension with PSG in 2022. According to club sources, there was a commitment at the time, which was subsequently reiterated many times: If Mbappe were to leave the club on a free transfer, he would forego certain financial benefits such as bonuses in order to compensate the club.
Over the course of this summer, Mbappe, who officially joined Real after his PSG contract expired on July 1, said he believed the club owed him money and took the case to the commission in the hope of recovering it.

But now it has been decided that he must reach an agreement through dialogue with the club, with or without the help of an independent mediator, which PSG considered a victory.
PSG said in a statement: “Paris Saint-Germain is very satisfied with today’s two-hour hearing before the Commission.
“The club recalled that the player has repeatedly made clear public and private commitments that must be respected, given that the club has granted him unprecedented benefits during seven fantastic years in Paris.
“In view of the club’s oral and documented arguments, the Commission insisted on mediation between the parties, which Paris Saint-Germain has been seeking for many months. The Commission has now invited the player to consider the mediation process.”
Mbappe could reject mediation and take the matter to an employment tribunal instead, but this could take over two years. He could also choose to drop his claim.
The former Monaco striker joined PSG permanently in 2018 after spending the 2017/18 season on loan at the club.
He enjoyed great success at the Parc des Princes, winning Ligue 1 six times, the Coupe de France four times, the Trophee des Champions three times and the Coupe de la Ligue twice.
