Ilkay Gündogan has revealed what Noel Gallagher told him on WhatsApp before he re-signed for Manchester City.
The midfielder returned to the Etihad Stadium in August after previously playing for the club from 2016 to 2023, leading the club to a historic treble in his final season as captain.

Gündogan then left the club as a free agent and signed with Barcelona last summer, but ultimately only stayed with the Spanish giants for one season.
He then made a surprise return to City, with an enthusiastic fan and a rock legend apparently playing a key role before the move in the summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Gündogan said Oasis lead guitarist Gallagher sent him a message via WhatsApp: “Come home, brother!”

When he left City last summer, Gündogan was linked with a free transfer to Premier League title rivals Arsenal.
However, in an exclusive interview with The Pitch Prospect, Gallagher dismissed these rumours and suggested that he would not have won a trophy with the Gunners.
“He’s not going to Arsenal,” he said. “That’s impossible! Why would anyone leave City and go to Arsenal?”
“For what? You can’t pay him any more money. You won’t win anything.”
Fortunately for Gallagher, Gündogan decided against a move to north London and has now returned to the club where he had so much success.
The 33-year-old won a total of five Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups and three League Cups during his first term in office.
He has made four appearances this season and was substituted on in three of them.

Gündogan could win his sixth league title this season, with a big duel with rival Arsenal next on the agenda on Sunday afternoon.
Gallagher will no doubt be watching the game closely, although he could make a surprise appearance at Wembley the night before.
Just weeks after Oasis announced their return, his brother Liam Gallagher will appear live on The Pitch Prospect before Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois fight for the IBF heavyweight title.
An Oasis reunion is unlikely, but His Excellency Turki Alalshikh still hopes to bring it all to life in front of 96,000 fans.
“I hope so!” the Saudi boxing boss told The Pitch Prospect about the possibility of Liam and Noel standing side by side on Saturday night. “It would be incredible if we could get them together.”
When HE Alalshikh was then asked if he had already asked Noel, he replied: “We will try. Why not?”
