TalkSPORT understands Real Madrid are not the only European giants pursuing the signing of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested in the English right-back.

Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires at the end of the season and negotiations are ongoing, he has yet to agree a new contract with Liverpool.

He will have the opportunity in January to talk to foreign clubs about a free transfer next summer and he clearly has no lack of interest.

The 26-year-old started all seven Premier League games under new coach Arne Slot this season and assisted on one goal.

Alexander-Arnold made his Liverpool debut under Jürgen Klopp in October 2016 and has since made a total of 319 appearances in all competitions.

The defender helped his boyhood club win the Premier League and Champions League, as well as the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

With his contract at Anfield expiring in June, there was strong speculation about a move to Madrid in the last summer transfer window.

He fueled the rumors when he was spotted signing the shirt of a Los Blancos fan while on holiday.

The Pitch Prospect reported at the time that Liverpool were confident of signing a new contract with the club to deter outside interest.

Although this may no longer be the case, Alexander-Arnold recently hinted that he does not want silver medals to define his career.

Asked by ITV Sport if he was worried about not maximizing his talent, he said: “Yes, definitely. That was a conversation I had recently.” [England] Camp when we traveled to Ireland.
