Roberto Firmino placed on transfer list and Jose Mourinho could provide Saudi Arabia escape route

According to The Pitch Prospect, ex-Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino is set to move to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

The Brazilian signed for Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli in 2023 after eight seasons on Merseyside and helped his side to a third-place finish.

Roberto Firmino’s time at Al-Ahli could come to an early end.

This season, Firmino has scored six goals in 19 games, but the Al Ahli captain’s future could lie in Saudi Arabia.

They are now open to offers for the 33-year-old as they look to strengthen other areas of their squad.

The club is looking for both a left winger and a defensive midfielder to improve their fifth place in the table.

Firmino’s inclusion in the squad currently occupies one of the ten spots allowed in the foreign quota, although eight are allowed to be used in any matchday squad.

Mourinho has been keeping an eye on Firmino as part of his own Turkish Süper Lig title hunt and could make a move for the Brazilian in the January transfer window.

Fenerbahce are six points behind city rivals Galatasaray and have high hopes of making up the gap after the winter break.

However, the Istanbul club is unlikely to get a free kick for the Brazilian as his Saudi Arabian club colleague Al Tauwoun is interested in loaning him out.

There are no previous offers for Firmino yet, but Al Ahli are open to any offers for the former Liverpool man.

Should Firmino depart this winter, he could become the second former Reds star to move from Saudi Arabia to Europe, following Jordan Henderson’s move from Al-Ettifaq to Ajax.

Firmino played 362 games for the Reds, scoring 111 goals, after joining from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in 2015.
